Who would have thought that K-pop and NBA would cross each other's paths, right?
Recently, former Girl's Generation member Jessica Jung received a special gift from one of the world's renowned NBA player, Stephen Curry. The Golden State Warriors MVP sent Jessica a customized jersey with her name and birth year on it. Koreaboo also revealed that the said jersey also had Stephen Curry's sign on it which caused a major stir from the fans of the basketball superstar.
As a self-admitted Golden State Warriors fan, Jessica posted a photo of herself on her official Instagram account with the gold-on-blue jersey. She even tagged Stephen Curry himself and placed a thoughtful caption "Bring home the championship".
Many fans out there are curious, how did the two met each other?
ABS-CBN Sports revealed that the singer and fashion designer was personally invited to the NBA finals game of Golden State Warriors after Stephen Curry learned that he was referenced on Jessica's solo debut song "Fly" with the line "winning like Steph Curry, we warriors". The Golden State Warriors also played Jessica's song during the game in the prestigious Oracle Arena.
As if by coincidence, the Golden State was also Jessica's hometown in USA. It was also noted that Jessica recently had an interview with Tencent, a Chinese company that has strong ties with the big bosses of NBA.
With these links, fans and netizens can't help but assume that there might be something special going on between the two superstars. To hush these assumptions, several news have stated that Stephen Curry was known to be generous to his fans. ABS-CBN Sports also wrote that the back-to-back MVP even gave his own jersey to Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao way back in 2015. Stephen Curry is also known for surprising his fans in the middle of game just like what he did last February when he gave his sneakers to a fan from the audience.
