After producer Han Dong-Cheol has left “Produce 101,” the program will not be hosted by Jang Keun-Suk for its Season 2. This added more obstacles to the second season of the singing competition.
According to official from the show as quoted by Hankyung, they are currently searching for the new host. Conflicting schedule has made Jang to be unable to host the second season of the show.
Jang was one of the reason the first season of “Produce 101” to be so successful. His lively appearance and cheerful approach helped reduced the tension between the contestants in the competition. Therefore, Mnet needs to find suitable replacement.
The absence of Jan gives more complication to the second season of the sucessful singing competition. It is because at the same time, producer Han Dong-Cheol also submitted his resignation from Mnet. According to Stoo News, Mnet made an official announcement on Jan. 16 that Han is leaving company.
Following the departure of two most important figure of the show, Mnet released the statement. It sad that departure of producer Han and host Jang will not change the schedule of the second season of the program.
First season of “Produce 101” is the survival singing competition which put 101 trainees from all artist management agencies in Korea. The singing competition aimed to select members of the new girl group who will be promoted by Mnet. The first season which ended April last year has made the 11-member-group IOI.
The second season of the program will aim to form a new boy group. However, many big agencies such as JYP, SM, YG, Cube, and Wollim have decided to refrain from the program, and not sending their trainees to participate in the second season.
