Member Of Girl Group Sol.T Will Debut As MMA Fighter; Fans Are Shocked

DoA, a member of hip hop girl group Sol.T plan to debut in the MMA as a K1 fighter in the MaxFC ring. She is curently doing intensive training in the MaxFC gym to get in shape and conditioning.

Her plan was first revealed in Naver, and shocked the fans. According to MaxFC General Manager Kwon Young-Guk, her first bout is held as an amateur matches and special event. The fight is treated as variety fighting show, not a professional one because MMA rule are very strict to distinct amateur and professional bout.

“We do not object people who are interested to try fighting in the ring in a special event match,” Kwon said. “The special event matches is an opening match before the main event and fighter must thoroughly prepared.”

The 23-year-old singer is not a stranger to sporting event. According to Korea Daily, she was a prominent track and field athlete who was expected to join national team. However, an injury hindered her dream to become national athlete for Korea.

This time, she wants to prove her physical strength in an MMA stand-up fight. Singer whose real name is Kim Do-Ah said that fighting in an MMA event is one of her dream, and she will train really hard to make her eligible to enter the ring. She is now training under supervision of a Korean renown Muay Thai champion Choi Chul-Woong who has won three championship belt.

MaxFC is a K1 MMA fighting, which rules are based on stand-up fighting style. The K1 fighting accommodates all stand-up fighting style such as Karate, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Hapkido, Savate and Kickboxing. DoA will train to fight in a Muay Thai style which utilize her lower body strength that has been developed through her years of training in track and field.
