Viewers of "Hwarang" are eliciting mixed reactions with the latest plot issues and botched romance of the characters in the story. Initially released on December 19, 2016, viewers had great expectations for the coming-of-age drama which was based on the Silla Kingdom of Korea.
History-wise, "Hwarang" is a word used to refer to a group which is popularly known as the Flowering Knights. The members of the said group were trained to strengthen and protect the Silla Kingdom. According to reports, the latest turn of events and plot twists have resulted to the confusion of the viewers.
The confusion brought about by the turn of events of "Hwarang" have reportedly caused the viewership ratings to suffer. This is mainly because "Hwarang" is showing a slightly different side of the Flowering Knights in the series, who, instead of protecting the Silla Kingdom, are mainly focused on protecting the faceless king.
As of writing, "Hwarang" has already aired 10 episodes and all of them have reportedly failed to capture the hearts of the viewers. Some viewers have reportedly voiced out their disappointments and honest opinions on why "Hwarang" seemed to be not getting the praise and attention it deserves. Basically, the mediocre execution of the characters, especially Ah Ro, is one of the main downers in "Hwarang."
For several episodes, "Hwarang" follows the journey of Ah Ro as she tries to look for her brother. This has resulted to a nagging and dragging effect in the plot. Additionally, the many love interests of Ah Ro is also irking the viewers instead of entertaining them.
"Hwarang" still has a long way to go and the viewers are still hopeful that the showrunners and writers can still find time to turn the story around and find the right combination to make it click with the viewers. Meanwhile, Soompi reports that "Hwarang" is getting a lot of attention in the webtoon series. Stay tuned to Kpopstarz for more "Hwarang" news and latest updates!
