Drama Review Corner: Final Thoughts On ‘Goblin’

What would you do if one day you met a powerful god? Kim Shin has been wandering the Earth as a goblin for the last 900 years, a cruel punishment from God. Seeking both revenge and death, Shin has been searching for a bride to remove his sword and finally end his punishment and return to nothingness. His nephew, Duk Hwa, twists his fate by allowing a Grim Reaper to live in Kim Shin's house. The Reaper has his own mission of finding out just what he did in his past life to become a grim reaper. One day, Kim Shin is summoned by a young girl on her birthday claiming to be the Goblin's Bride. Cruel fate ensues, as a lonely chicken restaurant owner, Sunny becomes entangled in everything. 'Goblin' introduces a new side to K-dramas by intertwining comedy, romance, and sad fate into 16 amazing episodes. The show has also set new records for K-dramas worldwide with the final episode having the highest rating ever for a Korean television show.

Overall, 'Goblin' lived up to any and all standards I had! This has got to be one of the best dramas I've ever seen from beginning to end. Obviously a huge shout out to Sungjae, as BTOB is my bias group. I decided to watch 'Goblin' because of Sungjae and I am so incredibly happy I did. The acting was amazing and you can feel the chemistry through the screen. Through tears, laughter, and shock, 'Goblin' is definitely a show I would recommend highly.

The ending was absolutely perfect. While I had to watch through sobs, I think that it was perfect the way they made it so that everyone had a happy ending, despite it not being the happy ending viewers had expected. I desperately want a mini series with detective Grim Reaper and actress Sunny! The few minutes I got to see them made me the happiest I've been, and I am so glad that the king and queen after thousands of years, finally got their happy ending. I'm sure everyone was shocked with the death of Eun Tak including me, who was texting a friend asking if the writers could possibly do that. So you could imagine my reaction when the show concluded with our Eun Tak and Goblin coming together once again to have a long and happy life together.

Obviously it's a 10/10 actually I'd say 11/10, this is by far the greatest kdrama I've ever watched and I'm sure most would have to agree! If you ever get the chance make sure to watch this show (or rewatch if you still have tears left) because this is one that will go down in history!
