'Cheese In The Trap' Movie News: Fans Outraged Over Casting Choices For Big Screen Adaptation

Despite some discrepancies between the original webtoon material and the Korean drama series, "Cheese in the Trap" still managed to become enough of a success to merit a big screen adaptation. But the road to film production is still paved with challenges as fans of both the series and the drama are concerned about the new casting choices for the film version.

It can be recalled that throughout its run, "Cheese in the Trap" ran into some problems when fans of the popular webtooon complained that the television adaptation was steering too far away from the original source material. They complained that the series was focusing too much on the love triangles instead of developing the stories of the individual characters, which was the main strength of the webtoon. Even webtoon writer Soonkki at one point, expressed dissatisfaction over the trajectory taken by the television drama.

According to a statement from the writer, she was disappointed that the drama failed to deliver on her expectations in delivering a different feel from comics because they were after all, adapted on different media. She also lamented that she was not kept in the loop while the drama was being developed as production only contacted her prior to the filming of the final episode, reported One Hallyu.

Now, "Cheese in the Trap" is caught in another snag even before it begins production as new actors have been cast to replace the original actors who starred in the Kdrama. Of the original lead cast members, only Park Hae Jin has committed to reprise his role as Yoo Jung.

According to a report by Soompi, Oh Yeon Seo will be replacing Kim Go Eun for the role of Hong Seol while twins Baek In Ho and Baek In Ha will be played by Park Ki Woong and Yoo In Young. They will be replacing Seo Kang Joon and Lee Sung Kyeong who portrayed the roles of the troubled teens in the series.

Fans are now worried that the actors cast for the role will be too old to play the part of college students. All of the lead characters are all well into their thirties and even though they appear younger than their actual age, fans are worried they they might still appear to be too mature looking to portray students effectively. Park Hae Jin is now 35 years old while Oh Yeon Seo is 31. Park Ki Woong and Yoo In Young are 33 and 34 years old.

"Cheese in the Trap" is originally a webtoon that revolves around college student Hong Seol, who believes that her senior Yoo Jung is hiding his true nature from the rest of the school. As a result, he doubts his motives for getting close to her. Matters are made more complicated by the arrival of disturbed twins Baek in Ho and Baek In Ha who both have romantic feelings towards Hong Seol and Yoo Jung.
