Jay Park Reminisce on Trainee Days and How JYP Entertainment Disciplines Trainees

American singer, songwriter, and rapper Jay Park recently made an appearance in an American podcast. The multi-talented idol shared how JYP Entertainment would discipline their trainees.

According to Koreaboo, the multi-talented Korean-American idol Jay Park was recently made a guest on the Seattle-based podcast "The Glow Up" on Feb. 27. Jay Park gave details on how he became the man he is now and reminisced on the days when he was still a trainee for JYP Entertainment.

Jay Park shared how the sudden change of environment was so hard to take in. He also shared how and individual's sense of creativity is being killed in the agency's process of idol training.

Jay Park also shared he was just thinking simply and that when he finishes the training he would make money and come back eventually. He also compared how the three and a half years dance and voice training at JYP Entertainment was the same at a military boot camp.

"It helped in a lot of ways, but it also killed my passion and creativity in a lot of ways as well," said Jay Park in the podcast. It's kind of like programming almost. He also added how it was like they were being programmed by the agency because they were taught to sing a song in a specific way, and that it is how one loses his individuality. According to Next Shark, Jay Park expressed it was really hard and stressful.

Jay Park also explained in detail how JYP Entertainment would discipline the trainees. He explained how the trainees would receive verbal and physical abuse as a disciplinary action.

He, however, did not experience any of this as he was already a good dancer. Trainees who were not able to perform the dance steps right was, however, physically disciplined.

What happened back then was mainly because of the cultural differences between the trainees, said Jay Park. He also expressed how times now have changed, and that JYP Entertainment is not like that anymore.
