Jay Park Wins Artist Of The Year, Best R&B Soul Album At 14th Korean Music Awards: Check Out Other Winners Here!

Jay Park came home with the biggest win in the recently concluded 14 Korean Music Awards, one of the most prestigious award-giving bodies in Korea. Park was awarded Artist of the Year and also picked up the win for Best R&B Soul album for "Everything You Wanted."

According to a report by All Kpop, the winners were determined based on album sales from December 2015 to November 2016. A body of 63 members composed of industry experts including professors, music critics, journalists, and producers also helped judge the final outcome of the awards.

Unfortunately, Jay Park was not present to receive his awards in person but he made sure to share the love to his fans on his Instagram. On his post, he said that he doesn't really think of winning awards when he puts out his music but he is thankful for the recognition and acknowledgment he received from a prestigious awards body like the Korean Music Awards.

According to a report from Soompi, music duo Bolppagan4 also won the much coveted Song of the Year honors for "Galaxy" while the Wonder Girls proved their girl power supreme with "Why So Lonely?" which won Best Pop Song.

Rapper BewhY's ruled the hip hop scene with his track "Forever" which won Best Rap & Hip Hop Song while the Best Rap and Hip-Hop Album Award went to Hwaji for "Zissou." Rookie of the Year honors went Silica Gel.

Other winners include Choi Sung Ho Singularity for "When the Wind Blows" (Best Jazz and Crossover Song); Second Moon's "Pansori Chunhyang-ga"(Best Jazz and Crossover Album): Black String's "Mask Dance" (Best Jazz and Crossover Performance); Lang Lee's "Playing God" (Best Folk Song) and Minhwee Lee's "Borrowed Tongue" (Best Folk Album).

The Best Dance and Electronic Song Award went to Hitchhiker for "$10" while the Best Dance and Electronic Album was bagged by Kirara for "Moves." The Best Metal and Hardcore Album was ruled by Remnants of the Fallen for "Shadow Walk" while Best Modern Rock Song went to 9 and the Numbers for "Ellice Islands (Song for Tuvalu)." The Best Modern Rock Album Award went to Wings of the ISANG for "Stream of Consciousness" and Jun Bum Sun and the Yangbans' "Revolution" took the Best Rock Song Award. The Best Rock Album went to ABTB for "Attraction Between Two Bodies."

Kim Hong Tak was given the Achievement Award while the Committee bestowed the Committee Choice Special Award to Yoon Min Suk, and Musicians who took part in "Gentrification." Finally, the most awaited Album of the Year went to Jo Dong Jin for "Like A Tree" which also picked up the prize as the year's Best Pop Album. For more on K-pop, check out Kpopstarz.
