Celebrities have it pretty easy in many aspects of life. Often, they are objects of envy for their financial success, public admiration and gorgeous looks.

But in times of scandals and rumors, there is no one in the world who would rather be in the shoes of celebrities. Non-public figures such as you and I, when faced with a big problem in life, we have the freedom to retreat to our caves and avoid human contact until we come to resolve the issue at hand. Celebrities, however, usually do not have such luxury because they still need to make public appearances since they are part of their job.

Recently, K-pop celebrities who have been decorating the front pages of tabloids are employing a new method to avoid talking about controversies and rumors altogether. They are exercising their right to remain silent.

Baek Ji Young, who recently announced her wedding plans with Jung Suk Won as well as her pregnancy , made her first public appearance since then at the press conference for 'M-Net Voice Korea.' Right off the bat, she stated, "No questions regarding her wedding and pregnancy, please," striking first before reporters booted their laptops.

BEAST's Yong Joonhyung did the same at the press conference for his new drama, 'Monstar,' politely asking not to inquire about his former girlfriend, KARA's Goo Hara.

The main reason behind such adamant, aggressive prevention of further conversation about rumors and controversies is simple. They need to promote their shows, concerts, events, whatever it is they are working on. They cannot afford to let those take the back seat next to rumors and controversies.
