Amanda Knox Ex Boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito Appears On An Interview On "Today"; Amanda Talk "Bad Vibes" Of Kissing Photo During Investigation[VIDEO]

Amanda Knox's ex boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, appeared on Friday's edition of the NBC "Today." Sollecito sat down with Savannah Guthrie and maintained his innocence in the murder of Knox's roommate in Italy, Meredith Kercher.

Sollecito, who is Italian, and Knox, who is from Seattle, were convicted of murdering British student Meredith Kercher, 21, during what Italian prosecutors called an orgy gone wrong. The photograph of the couple kissing during the investigation was held up as proof of her alleged sinister sexual nature.

Amanda Knox has spoken out against the 'bad vibes' the notorious photo of her kissing former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito created in the days following the death of her housemate Mereditch Kercher.

The image was taken as police searched the flat that she had shared with the British university student, who was found with 47 wounds, including a fatal slash across her throat, at their Perugia home in November 2007. The picture creeped out viewers who thought the embrace looked more like an eerie celebration.

Sollecito had been dating Knox in Italy for just one week when the couple came under investigation for her murder.

Amanda Knox's ex, Soccecio, also went on "Today" to promote his new book Honor Bound: My Journey to Hell and Back with Amanda Knox.

Sales of Knox's book, Waiting to Be Heard, were given a boost earlier this month after her interview with Sawyer aired in primetime on ABC. She said she was shocked during the trial, when lawyers for the prosecution were calling her a "whore" and a "deviant."

She says that Italian prosecutors made up allegations that she was a sex and drug-crazed party girl to bolster their case.

Knox said that her book is aimed at debunking those criticisms.

"In the book I talk about all my sexual experiences... I was not strapping on leather and bearing a whip. No one has ever claimed that I was ever taking part in deviant sexual activity. None of my roommates, none of my friends, no witnesses have ever come out saying things like that."

Sollecito's Honor Bound reveals how he refused to turn his back on Knox as the tawdry case made headlines around the world. Sollecito had been dating Amanda for just one week, but he felt he had to do what was right and not throw her under the bus.

When asked why he stood up for someone who knew for such a short time he said he knew she was innocent and he "had to be very serious and not playing a game with some people who wanted this game to be played."

"(Amanda) told me that she thinks that I'm a kind of hero, but I don't feel so," he said. "And I don't need any kind of gratitude. ... I did it because I know it's the truth. It's the good thing to do. It's the only way for me."

Sollecito was sent to prison along with Knox, and after four years behind bars, both were acquitted in 2011 because of insufficient evidence. Recently, an Italian court overturned that ruling and requested a new trial to start sometime in 2014.

"We are all disappointed for this decision because we don't understand the reason why," Sollecito told Guthrie, adding: "I already know I am innocent and we have already proved it."
