Lee Hyori has been on a hiatus from the entertainment scene since 2015. But as the actress hinted last October, she is working on new music. Is she finally coming back this year?
News surfaced that Lee Hyori's comeback is happening this May. According to AllKpop, Lee Hyori's current agency Kiwi Media Group revealed on March 10 that they are expecting the singer's new album to release at the end of May.
The report further stated that she will be working with composers Kim Do Hyun and Kim Hyung Suk for the upcoming album. The said composers already worked with her for her 2003 song "Ten Minute." If this is truly happening, it will be Hyori's first comeback since signing with the label last November.
However, Hello KPop claimed that Kiwi Media Group has denied the rumors. The company reportedly stated that no specific details of Hyori's comeback has been laid down at the moment.
Truth is, Lee Hyori is preparing for her return and it was confirmed that she is doing new music to release this year. Kiwi Media Group told Wow TV that the singer is eyeing to release an album sometime during the first half of 2017. In the previous report, the agency did not state a specific date but it appears that fans will not have to wait for too long.
The company's CEO Kim Hyung Seok revealed that they already had a lot of discussions with the singer. The executive said Hyori is very ambitious and not afraid to try new things. According to the agency, the process for writing the songs has already begun.
Hyori released her last album "Monochrome" in 2013. She wrote the lyrics of half of the album's tracks. She found huge success upon the release of her fifth studio album, as most of the tracks made it to the music charts in Korea.
