Red Velvet’s Irene Reveals The Truth About How She Ended Up With SM Entertainment

We never know how fate interferes to shape what we will become years from now. Red Velvet's Irene has witnessed it herself when she began her career as an idol.

In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, Red Velvet's Irene revealed that she actually never intended to go on an audition. According to Korea Boo, Irene tagged along with her friends who went to an audition when she decided to try her luck. However, she initially didn't pass the audition and that made her realize how badly she wanted to become a singer.

Irene never made a big deal out of her failure until there was an unexpected phone call to offer her an exclusive contract. Red Velvet's Irene marked that moment as the turning point of her life -- to end up being one of the most talented singers that SM Entertainment has.

Since her debut with Red Velvet, Irene has emerged to be a promising newcomer. Not only did she gain recognition from her talent as a singer, but a lot of people also praised her for her beautiful visage. Allkpop noted that her fellow Red Velvet members even admitted that they're jealous of Irene because of her natural long eyelashes and other aspects that shaped her beauty.

Irene and Red Velvet kicked off with their debut music video "Happiness" back in 2014. Irene was initially cast by SM Entertainment in 2009 for her outstanding skills in singing, rapping and dancing. She was introduced as SM Entertainment's pre-debut group in 2013.

Red Velvet's Irene is not only good at singing and dancing. Irene was also the host of "Music Bank" from 2015 to 2016 along with actor Park Bo Gum. The 25-year-old singer also made her acting debut in 2016 on a web drama "The Female Employees of a Game Company," in which she played the lead character.
