"Descendants of the Sun" or "DOTS" was undoubtedly one of the most well-known K-dramas in the four corners of the globe. Now, the Taiwanese government has decided to make their own version of the drama.
According to Koreaboo, a number of Taiwanese news outlets have confirmed that the country will make their own version of "Descendants of the Sun". This is due to their government's request.
The Taiwanese government hopes that their Taiwanese "Descendants of the Sun" version will improve their military's morale. Apparently, the Korean military's morale was on record high after the show wrapped up.
The Taiwanese version of "Descendants of the Sun" will be rebranded and will air under the title "The Best Choice". Reports have also stated that the show will start taping for its episodes in mid-April.
However, there are reports that the Taiwanese version of "Descendants of the Sun" has only a budget of around $419,000, or about 12.8 million New Taiwan dollar (NT$). There are also no reports yet of who will star for the show.
"Descendants of the Sun" or rather, "The Best Choice" will be directed by the award-winning Liang Hsiu-shen. He stated that the lead actor will be someone that is in his top physical shape. That is of course of top priority since the character in the show is a Special Forces soldier.
In other news, "Descendants of the Sun" is rumored to have a sequel. Poor Primadonna reports that lead actor/actress Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo will be reprising their role for "Descendants of the Sun Season 2".
Some spoilers state that "Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 will be starting off with the sweet romance between Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo's characters. Some spoilers even state that that DOTS Season 2 will finish with the duo walking down the aisle.
"Descendants of the Sun" Season 2 is reportedly slated to be aired this year. Whether the rumors are true or not, stay tuned here at KpopStarz for more updates.
