Park Gyuri Secures a Role on New Daily Drama Titled ‘The Rose of Sharon Blooms Again’

Park Gyuri has landed a role on KBS 2TV. She will reportedly be will be performing on the new daily drama tentatively titled "The Rose of Sharon Blooms Again." On Mar. 28, a source from her agency confirmed that she will indeed appear in the upcoming KBS daily drama.

Park Gyuri will reportedly be playing the role of a police officer named Jang Eun Joo. The setting of the KBS's new drama "The Rose of Sharon Blooms Again" is a police patrol station. It allegedly tells a satisfying story of a lowly police officer who stands up on his principles and defied the police hierarchy.

While it is not a tremendous role, it will serve as a stepping stone for Park Gyuri to branch out into the acting world, Soompi reported. She can now prove to her fans that she has already matured after she left KARA and can now take on other acting projects. The drama is set to start its maiden broadcast by the middle of May.

Park Gyuri is a singer, actress and radio personality. She gained prominence for being a former member and leader of the girl group Kara. She was a child actress before she started her singing career. Her first appearance as an actress was on "Today is a Nice Day" in 1995 where she played the girlfriend of Kang Ho-dong's brother.

She later appeared in 2001 as the teenage version of Kim Jung-Eun's character in "Ladies of the Palace." She is also allegedly the only daughter of the popular voice dubber Park Sohyun. Park Gyuri was reportedly the one who came up with the name Kara which comes from the Greek word "chara," which was interpreted to mean sweet melody. In April, 2016 Park Gyuri revealed that the group did not disband and is still hoping to release new albums in the future.
