Gong Minzy Solidifies Her Solo Career With A Concert In Japan

Gong Minzy apparently wants to make the most out of her solo career after she decided to leave 2NE1 last year. With her first upcoming mini-album releasing on April 17, Minzy also sets to hold her first solo concert in Japan.

Minzy's agency, Music Works, recently released an official announcement on its official Japanese social media account. According to a report from Soompi, the agency writes that Minzy will be holding her first solo concert on May 5 at Hitotsubashi Hall, Tokyo. The agency also stated that Minzy will be performing her new tracks from the mini-album that will be released within a few weeks of this month.

Minzy's plan to conduct a solo concert in Japan gained various attentions from netizens. A lot of people think it's too early for a solo debutant like Minzy to hold a concert overseas. They also believe that Minzy should focus more to promote her upcoming album in the domestic market, or simply hold her solo concert in Korea. However, the agency believes that this sort of plan to promote a singer's new release with a tour can be considered effective to raise bigger acknowledgments.

A report from the similar news outlet also revealed that Minzy's first mini-album will explore various genres from ballad to upbeat dance track. A well-known rapper, Flowsik, also involves producing Minzy's album as well as features on one of the tracks on the album. One of the things that got fans excited to look forward to Minzy's album is her collaboration with Jay Park. The good news was delivered by Minzy with a photo of her and Jay Park posted on Instagram.

Besides working on her solo album, Minzy also stars in "Unnie Slam Dunk" Season 2 along with Hong Jin Kyung, Kang Ye Won, Hang Chae Young, and Kim Sook. The former 2NE1 idol picked the show as her first solo debut appearance because she believes that it would be a great experience to gain a positive energy from the talents that she works with.
