'Running Man' Introduces New Runners, Pulls Lowest Rating Ever

It seems like the introduction of the new runners in "Running Man's" last episode didn't help to raise its viewership. Additional cast is one of the efforts of "Running Man's" producers to revive the show.

"Running Man's" April 9th episode revealed the interview with the new runners who are Yang Se Chan and Jun So Min. Three days before the episode, SBS representative announced that "Running Man" will have new main cast.

The "Running Man's" staff were shocked and seemed impressed by the revelation of the characters. "I have a dirty mind," Jun So Min responded to a comment that she has a pure face.

Yang Se Chan, on the other hand, said that he is very competitive. "I will defeat everyone!," he said.

However, the introduction of the new main cast didn't give a promising impact to the viewers. The episode got an all-time low rating of 3.4 percent, according to Nielsen Korea. It is the lowest TV rating the show received.

Its competitors such as "The Return of Superman" in KBS had a rating of 9.3 percent while the "Masked Singer' in MBC got 13.6 percent. "Running Man" is in air for seven years in SBS.

Earlier, All Kpop reported that the production design or set will be changed. SBS representative previously revealed that "Running Man" will be filmed outside South Korea. "The group has split into three teams and are filming in Jeju Island, Taiwan, and Osaka, Japan," SBS representative revealed.

Jang Do Yeon was invited to team up with Lee Kwang Soo, and Kim Jong Kook for their Jeju Island Mission. Song Ji Hyo, Haha, and Yang Se Chan, however, will fly to Taiwan. Yoo Jae Suk, Ji Suk Jin, and Jeon So Min are going to Japan.

The debut of the new members will be in the next week episode on April 16. However, the out of the country episode is scheduled to air on April 23, 2017.
