Psy, Sports Star: K-pop Sensation Graces Sporting Events From Italian Football Final to Dodger Stadium

The world of sports has found an unlikely fan in Psy.

With his worldwide hits "Gangnam" and "Gentleman" still racking up the YouTube views, the South Korean rapper has made a habit of appearing at sporting events.

His latest being an invitation to the Italian Football Cup final at Stadio Olimpico on May 26.

Last year, Italy expressed its adoration for Psy with a flash mob of 30,000 fans.

"Massive Roma Flash Mob - Piazza del Popolo 10-11-2012 - 30.000 Presenze - Vista Pincio!!!" tweeted Psy shortly after hearing about the epic event.

And the love-fest will continue this Sunday in Rome as football teams AS Roma and Lazio face off in the final.

According to website Korea JoongAng Daily, the event sponsor TIM is collaborating with the king of K-pop to boost festivities and heighten the atmosphere.

To commemorate Psy's first stage in Italy, TIM will stream the performance online an hour before the game through the digital musical platform Cubomusica.

And Italian football is not the only sport on Psy's radar.

Earlier this month, the "Gentleman" returned to the Dodger Stadium as the LA Dodgers went up against the Colorado Rockies to dance to his newest single. This is in part due to LA Dodgers' starting pitcher Ryu Hyun Jin.

"I showed the [Gangnam Style] dance to athletes and they liked it a lot," Ryu tweeted.

Psy quickly promised to return the favor.

"I will go to show my support right after I arrive in LA later this April," said the K-pop star. "Fighting always."

In addition, Psy also attended Korean pro basketball player Seo Jang Hoon's retirement game back in March.

According to website Sina English, Psy demonstrated his sportsmanship to support his longtime friend not as a singer, but as himself.

Busan KT stated, "Psy will shoot a hoop before the final game."

And Psy did just that, making the symbolic dunk before the official game.
