Zach Galifianakis plans to take a homeless woman with him to the "Hangover III" premiere when the film comes out.  Galifianakis rescued Elizabeth 'Mimi' Haist from homelessness. He said he plans to take Haist, who is 87 years old, as his date to the 'Hangover III' premiere.

The homeless woman and Galifianakis became friends almost twenty years ago. During the 1990s, before Galifianakis was famous, he became friends with Elizabeth "Mimi" Haist, now 87. She volunteered at a laundromat in Los Angeles and depended on customer tips. Galifianakis lived around the corner. Later, she became homeless. When Galifianakis found out about two years ago that Haist had become homeless, he paid her rent for a one-bedroom apartment and started escorting her to red carpet events.

Renee Zellweger furnished Mimi's apartment. She also buys her groceries. Haist called her "very sweet".

"What a gentleman!" a fan said on Twitter. "Aww, how sweet! "said another. 

"I'm looking forward to it, I like the excitement of it," Mimi Haist said to the New York Daily News. She said she loves the spotlight and is excite to go to the Hangover III premiere soon. Apparently, it won't be her first time. Zach also took her to the opening night of "The Hangover Part II" and "The Campaign", but she didn't get any media attention because nobody had any idea who she was. Zach Galifianakis, apparently, is not a bragger. She said he picked her up from her apartment in a limo. When a reporter asked if she is sometimes mistaken for his grandmother, she joked that he was mistaken for his girlfriend. Haist is also friends with Zach's wife.

"If he's in town, he takes me. Otherwise he lets me take a friend. I dress up nice and a friend helps me with my makeup. It's fun, not something I've ever dreamed I'd experience. The limo takes me home afterwards," Haist told the New York Daily News.
