CBS Pulls Tornado Episode: Network Execs Say Mike & Molly Season Finale 'Will Be Broadcast At An Appropriate Date'

In the wake of Monday's tornado in Oklahoma that killed at least 51 people, 20 of them children, CBS pulled the season finale of "Mike & Molly" from their primetime lineup last night.

Network executives told E! Online on Monday that the episode, which featured a tornado plotline, would be "broadcast at an appropriate date."

"Due to the tragic events this afternoon in Oklahoma, we are pre-empting tonight's season finale of 'Mike & Molly,' which has a related storyline. A repeat broadcast of 'Mike & Molly' will run in the time period."

According to Mashable, the finale, titled "Windy City," features important confessions between Mike and Molly as a tornado descends on Chicago.

The "Mike & Molly" broadcast shuffle is coming off the news of the series creator Mark Roberts leaving the show after three seasons, reports TV Line.

The events in Oklahoma left CBS stars like Neil Patrick Harris shocked and grief-stricken.

"I just can't believe the scale of that tornado that touched in Moore. A mile wide?!?" wrote the "How I Met Your Mother" star. "My condolences go out to everyone affected."

Showing how quickly the tides change, last Thursday's "Grey's Anatomy" season finale was entirely unaffected by its hurricane-centric disaster event.

However, another ABC drama series "Scandal" wasn't as timely last December. According to International Business Times, the show's mid-season finale, which featured two children being murdered, was temporarily pulled from online viewing due to the Sandy Hook Massacre.

The new broadcast date for the "Mike & Molly" finale is yet to be announced.
