YG Entertainment is preparing its hottest girl group for a comeback. After wrapping its previous promotion with a huge success, BLACKPINK reportedly is working on its new album to be released next month.
A source from YG Entertainment revealed to Allkpop that BLACKPINK is now in the middle of progress to release its new album. The source said that the girl group may be ready to drop its latest release the mid of June. Since BLACKPINK's anticipated comeback is in June, fans are hoping the group will bring a fresh, hot summer concept.
BLACKPINK's comeback will mark 2017 as an important period in the history of YG Entertainment. So far, the agency will gather major success from its artists' comeback this year. YG Entertainment's artists who are making their comebacks this year include PSY, Sechskies, BIGBANG, Akdong Musician, WINNER, and BLACKPINK.
However, fans are still a bit skeptical about the news since the label hasn't dropped a single teaser yet. According to some fans, if the news about BLACKPINK makes its comeback in summer is true, it will most likely not happen in June but probably in August instead, the same month they debuted in 2016.
Last month, BLACKPINK just made a milestone in their viewership records. According to Yonhap News, BLACKPINK's music video "Whistle" surpassed 100 million views on YouTube. Meanwhile, the group's debut song "BOOMBAYAH" has reached over 150 million views in just six months. The girls have also passed 1 million likes on the MV.
BLACKPINK made its debut in August 2016 with its lead singles "Whistle" and "BOOMBAYAH". The group is considered one of the most successful rookie groups whose three music videos garnered hundreds of million views on YouTube.
Since the debut, BLACKPINK has won multiple music awards including Melon Music Awards' Rookie Honor category, beating its competitors like I.O.I, and Cosmic Girls. With all the massive success the group has garnered, fans are surely looking forward to BLACKPINK's comeback this year.
