The husband was trying to do the right thing- protect his wife from a homerun ball, which for some reason was misinterpreted as an intentionally rude move. The hilarious video captured the moment when the wife doused her husband with beer after he managed to spill a little of his own in his attempt to keep her safe from the ball.

The couple were watching the Chicago Cubs take on the New York Mets at Wrigley Field on Sunday, when Cubs pitcher Travis Wood smacked a ball into the bleachers, thanks to a home run.

Intending to protect his wife, the man leapt into the air and accidentally spilled beer on her.

Admitting her reaction to MLB, the wife said, “I just got the livid. And took my beer and splooshed it in his face. I figured if I'm wet, he might as well be wet too.” They both laughed it off and were humorous about the whole situation.

She said she would never have expected their now show stealing performance to make it on TV. When they started receiving messages from friends, however, on what happened – she knew she was caught in the act.

“I think I got my payback,” the beer-dousing wife said, “I think we’re good.”
