LAPD Officer Arrested For Sexually Molesting Two Young Children

This weekend, an LAPD officer was arrested due to suspicion that he may have been involved in lewd conduct with two young girls, as stated by department officials on Monday.

The children allegedly molested by the LAPD officer were both below the age of 14, and authorities claim that there are at least two young children who were victimized. The LAPD officer's arrest was made on Saturday, and the accused officer is expected to appear in court Tuesday to address the charges of molesting the two girls.

Reported to have moved into the neighborhood just five weeks beforehand, Officer Miguel Angel Schiappapietra, 28, allegedly lured two young children into his own home, police said. The Special Victims Unit of the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department is currently investigating the case. The Department has refused to elaborate on any additional details regarding the crime or any relationship between the suspected officer and the young victims.

On Saturday, while Schiappapietra was off-duty, he was arrested and booked for the alleged crime of conducting lewd acts with and sexually molesting two young girls less than 14 years old. He himself is a parent of young children and has been a member of the force for 6 years. He is currently held in Santa Clarita Valley Sherriff's Station and on bail for $100,000.

Other LAPD officers have also been previously charged with sexual misconduct. In January earlier this year, two veteran LAPD officers were investigated for coercing female drug informants to perform sexual acts with the officers on several occasions.
