Cascaic LAPD Officer Arrested For Molesting Two Girls; Several Other Cops Recently Arrested For Child Molestation

A Cascaic-based LAPD officer was arrested this past weekend for alleged lewd conduct with two girls under the age of 10.

The Los Angeles Times reports that LAPD officer Miguel Schiappapietra, 28, was arrested in Cascaic last Saturday. Officers did not disclose his relationship to two victims, but confirmed that the LAPD officer is being detained on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in court today.

Schiappapietra was a six-year veteran of the LAPD. He is now on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal LAPD investigation as well as the ongoing criminal matter.

This is not the first time that an officer has recently been arrested for child molestation, though. Earlier this month in Cordell, Oklahoma, a police officer was arrested on rape and sodomy charges against an underage boy.

Last month, a 15-year veteran of the North Carolina General Assembly Police Department was arrested on a number of sex charges involving children.

On March 23, retired police officer Russell Dean Millsaps was arrested on child molestation charges.

Some police officers have also been recently sentenced for their crimes as well. Former San Antonio cop James Chin was ordered last month to serve 45 years in jail after being convicted on child molestation charges.

Wichita, Kansas cop Joseph McGill was sentenced to life in prison last month for multiple child sex crimes while on-duty as a police officer. He will not be eligible for parole.

Last February, there was outrage in Jacksonville, Florida after a cop who was sentenced to life in prison for child molestation against numerous young girls was still able to retain his pension.
