Is President Of The Humane Society Wayne Pacelle The New Bernie Madoff? [VIDEO]

An ad posted on Youtube by a non-profit organization titled "Is Wayne Pacelle the Bernie Madoff of the Charity World?" compares the president of the Human Society of the U.S. to Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff, currently serving a 150-year sentence for $65 billion losses.

The one-minute video posted by the Center for Consumer Freedom has been viewed 1.7 million times and claims The Humane Society "gives less than 1 percent of its massive donations to local pet shelters, but has socked away $17 million in its own pension fund." The ad was created by the Humane Watch.

The video shows Madoff's face morphing into the face of Pacelle. Dollars bills are shown falling across Pacelle's smiling and winking face, as the narrator warns donators that they should contribute to the Humane Society only "if you want your money to support Wayne and his pension."

HumaneWatch.org claims that millions of dollars from donations go to lawyers, lobbyists, and anti-meat and vegan propaganda campaigns to attack farmers. The website said "Pacelle takes advantage of public confusion between HSUS and local human societies."

Pacelle retaliated and said the Humane Society shelters more animals than any other organization. He said that the $17 million pension fund, which the ad claims goes into Pacelle's pocket, is designated for hundreds of employees and not just for himself, The Boston Globe reported.

The ad "is comparing me to America's most notorious white collar criminal and I have a spotless record on financial matters and we also do exactly what we say," Pacelle said, decrying what he called the ad's "lies and fabrications and misrepresentations."
