Pope Exorcist? Pope Francis Tweets Prayers in Support of Victims in Moore, Death Toll Miraculously Lowered To 24

Just after being accused of exorcising a young man, Pope Francis demonstrated his power to move the public by sending his sympathies and prayers for the victims of the tornado disaster in Moore, Oklahoma on his Twitter account.

Pope Francis tweeted, "I am close to the families of all who died in the Oklahoma tornado, especially those who lost young children." He also asked his 2.5 million followers to join him in prayer for the then-announced at least 50 victims, saying "Let us pray for the victims -- at least 50 of them -- and the missing, especially the children, struck by the violent tornado that hit Oklahoma City yesterday. Hear us, O Lord."

The prayers tweeted by Pope Francis were especially directed towards victims who were children or parents who have lost children due to the tornado disaster in Oklahoma City.

At the time the tweet was sent, around 52 persons were assumed dead from the disaster, and more were missing. Pope Francis' prayers were claimed to have worked, with the death toll from the devastation on Monday miraculously lowered to 24. The previous counts for the death toll may have come from mistakenly double-counted casualties, authorities say.

Adding to the purported miraculous power of the Pope's prayers, Pope Francis was also previously seen performing an exorcism at the Pentecost Mass on Sunday. After putting his hands on top of a disabled young man's head, the Pope began to pray for the man, and the man heaved several times before slumping in his wheelchair.

Although many questioned whether the Pope was an exorcist, the Vatican clarified in a statement on Tuesday that Pope Francis "didn't intend to perform any exorcism. But as he often does for the sick or suffering, he simply intended to pray for someone who was suffering who was presented to him."
