Melissa McCarthy Fires Extra On Her New Movie, Tammy, For Physical Abuse of a Child

Melissa McCarthy has reportedly fired an extra from the set of her new movie, Tammy after supposedly seeing the young mother manhandle her child, according to Yahoo.com

The mother, thought to be in her twenties, had brought along her son for the day's filming by a lake in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Evidently, according to various reports, the four to five-year-old became more difficult as the day went on causing the mother to lose her temper and jerk the youngster up in the air by a wrist.

TMZ is reporting that the mother-of-two McCarthy witnessed the incident and immediately had an assistant fire the woman, telling her that 'abuse' would not be tolerated on set.

The extra was one of around 200 working on the movie, for which she would have been paid a standard $58 fee.

Her efforts to keep her son under control throughout the morning had disrupted the set, according to  the TMZ, with the mother constantly chiding the youngster to 'stop it' and 'be quiet."

Tammy is Bridesmaids star McCarthy's new project and sees her and husband Ben Falcone working together as co-directors.

McCarthy also stars as Tammy, who has the worst day of her life when she is fired, only to return home and catch her husband cheating on her.

Tammy hits the road with her grandmother, played by Susan Sarandon, and her grandmother's lesbian friend, played by Kathy Bates.

McCarthy's reps did not immediately respond to any media request for comment.

The actress co-wrote and is co-directing "Tammy" with her husband, Falcone. Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are producing under Gary Sanchez Productions, according to Yahoo.
