MTV's Jersey Shore alumni and popular DJ  Paul DelVecchio, better known as Pauly D, traded his signature blow-out for a sophisticated slicked-back style on Monday.

He posted an Instagram  picture of himself sporting gelled side-parted locks and a suit fit for the "Great Gatsby," and the snap has already amassed 88,000 likes .

The star, who has become as well known for his hair as his DJ'ing skills, attributed his new polished look to Baz Luhrmann's 3D remake of "The Great Gatsby", in which Leonardo DiCaprio plays the title role.

Since wrapping the MTV reality show Jersey Shore, the 32 year old DJ has been consistently working DJ'ing all around the world and most recently landing a gig going on tour with the 90's pop group The Backstreet Boys. 

Just last month Pauly said he'd never change his famous hairdo saying "No way! You know god blessed me with this hairline and I don't want to let him down and cut it, so I'm going to keep it,"

Some fans believe this could be a new era for the DJ but it may take some time to get used to.

"Oh, no more blow out? This marks a new era of DJ Pauly D." Instagram user 'Pitbull is my man' said in a comment left on the stars page.

Other fans reactions to his hair cut range from supportive to shocking.

It remains to be seen whether this is permanent or just in celebration of the movie
