Dog Guards Owner’s Body: Still Man’s Best Friend After Owner Dies from Oklahoma Tornado

Dog guards its owner's body as it lays under a pile of debris and rubble from the deadly EF-5 Oklahoma tornado that ripped through the suburbs of Moore, OK last Monday.

The mud-covered grubby dog was seen guarding the deceased body of his owner underneath their house. A photo of the inspiring dog that guarded its owner's body was immediately uploaded on the internet, and after just a few seconds, it went viral.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff tweeted a photo of the dog guarding owner's body with a caption "scared, but this little pup survived."  The deputy from the Oklahoma County took the photo to Facebook as well to provide a back story for the heartwarming pup at around 5 pm, local time. Since then, the photo has already acquired 3500 likes on the giant social networking site.

Then last Tuesday, authorities discovered that the body of the dog's apparent owner was underneath the house where the animal was found. It prompted them to retweet the picture with a caption that reads, "Man's best friend to end. The dog was standing guard over a deceased individual, possibly its owner..."

The dog was taken to a local shelter and the deputy who found it says that if no one will claim the animal, he will adopt it.

Sharing more stories about lost pets, users of Reddit.com have made a thread for missing pets.

The local business, OKC Pups is also trying to connect lost pets with their respective owners. One success story that emerged is of Barbara Garcia, who found her lost dog emerging from beneath the debris of her home while she was having a live TV interview with CBS about the devastation.

The uplifting reunion of Garcia and her pet brought the internet citizens to tears. Garcia, overwhelmed with her emotion declared that God had answered her prayers already.
