No Joseph Gordon-Levitt girlfriend in ages, it seems, but since the premiere of the Don Jon's Addiction film he wrote, directed and stars in, many wonder whether Joseph Gordon-Levitt is dating his co-star in the film, Scarlett Johansson?

First, we need to a little history lesson on the Scarlett Johansson Joseph Gordon-Levitt dating rumors.

In April 2011, Star Magazine reported the two were dating while Levitt filmed the The Dark Knight Rises in New York and Johansson was in Scotland shooting Under the Skin.

But, Star said the pair--who claim to just be friends--were actually dating and that Johansson was ready to take the relationship to the next level by giving Gordon-Levitt the keys to her house.

This was only months after Scarlett had broken up with her fiancé Ryan Reynolds.

Nothing came of the supposed Johansson-Levitt couple.

Those rumors lay idle for a while as Johansson was linked to other men around Hollywood.

But once photos surfaced from the scenes of Don Jon's Addiction the rumors kicked right back into gear, with the UK's Daily Mail alluding to a possible romance when they were spotted filming in New Jersey.

Now that the trailer for JGL's directorial debut has been released, we can surmise just how much chemistry these "pals" might have beyond the silver screen.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, after a starring turn in the sitcom "30 Rock From the Sun," has continued on and succeeded where many child and teenage starts have fallen (looking at you LiLo).

But he's never been linked to any Hollywood beauties, so maybe Scarlett Johansson will change that.

Johansson has been linked to, besides Reynolds, Fun.'s. Jack Antonoff, who she dated in high school; the much much older, sleaze, Sean Penn; Nate Taylor and her on-again-off-again beau, Jordan Catalano from My So Called Life, Jared Leto.

But judge for yourself with the first trailer for Don Jon's Addiction, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the titular Jersey porn hound and gym rat, Scarlett Johansson as his love interest, and Julianne Moore and Who's the Boss star, Tony Danza, as Levitt's character's parents.

Now if only Joseph Gordn Levitt and Scarlett Johansson could reveal they're dating right before the October 18th American premiere.
