Cashier Sells Self $1M Ticket: Numbers of NASCAR Drivers Won Her a Million

A Missouri Cashier Sells self $1M ticket, as inspired by the record-breaking prize for the Powerball jackpot -- $600 million.

Even though Mary-Jane Hart did not win the total jackpot, the cashier was able to collect $1 million from the lottery ticket she sold herself. The cashier who sold herself a $1 Million lottery ticket works every weekend at the Heartland Pit Stop located in Doniphan Missouri.

When she arrived at work on Saturday, the part-time cashier sold herself a ticket that won her $1 million. Mary-Jane Hart said in an interview that she wanted to grab the lottery jackpot simply for NASCAR races.

"I've always wanted to win a jackpot so that I could go to way more Nascar races than I go to, which is a lot," said Mary-Jane Hart.

NASCAR being the cashier's motivation, Hart used the numbers of the drivers joining the race to fill out the Powerball lottery ticket. She did not immediately check the winning numbers when it was released. It was only after she received a call from work telling her about the winning ticket sold at Heartland Pit Stop that she realized it was a winner.

The cashier shared, "Someone had called me and told me that there was a winning ticket sold at the store, so I went to the convenience store at Poplar Bluff and checked my ticket and it said I was a winner."

Hart matched each number drawn except the powerball, and this meant  that she was a million dollars richer. Hart said she will use the money for her son and for a trip to Hawaii. Of course, her coworkers at the convenience store are very much happy for her.

Even though the cashier already won $1M, she said that she will still keep working in her two jobs and also continue to play the lottery. As she said, "Everybody needs to play lottery because it's a proven fact that if you think you can't win, you can."
