Why Are These Famous Variety Programs Getting Cancelled?

Sad news for fans of MBC's variety shows such as 'Infinity Challenge' and 'I Live Alone.' MBC employees have recently been involved in a company strike and due to the cease in production and work, these programs might just suffer the repercussions of the situation.

The employees of MBC who are on strike, alongside a representative, stated in a news report that "'Infinity Challenge' will air normally until this September 2. The filmed material we have so far is only for this week's broadcast." 'I Live Alone' is suffering from the same situation with no new content filmed or available past September 1st.

Viewers are concerned and wonder if the shows will simply take a small leave of absence, replay old episodes or be canceled altogether. According to various media outlets and reporters providing coverage on the situation, a vote cast by the MBC branch of the National Media Labor Union this past August 29, 93.2% of participating MBC employees said yes to launching a mass general strike in September, meaning every employee will cease to carry out their duties without leaving any working hands behind for necessary labor. In addition, 57 executive members of MBC announced their resignation from their positions on this day, including the vice-director of variety programs to several head PDs.

For now, no other updates have been revealed and MBC themselves have not come forward with any responses or information regarding the matter. However, a similar situation occurred back in 2012 which caused 'Infinity Challenge' to go off the air for 24 weeks. The union will continue their strike on September 4th. Stay tuned for more updates.
