After much controversy arose after BTS and Big Hit Entertainment were accused of "shortcut marketing" and almost blackmailed by a Mr. Lee, the MBC TV broadcasting station in charge of reporting the news also got tangled in the web of fury from netizens and ARMY (the BTS fandom) alike.
After being seen uploaded an Ilbe image which was meant to represent Mr. Lee alongside the news report of BTS blackmailing case, netizens and fans immediately recognized the familiar image and called out MBC for their ridiculous mistake. This is not the first time the news outlet used an Ilbe image which upset fans.
In response to the outcry from fans of BTS, MBC has posted the following apology letter on their website page.
"We apologize to the viewers for the use of former President Roh Moo Hyun's silhouette in 'Entertainment Today'. We have confirmed that the producers used the image while editing without knowing it was the silhouette of former President Roh Moo Hyun. We reveal that there weren't any intentions behind the process. We promise to be more cautious to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. Once again, we apologize to the viewers."
It seems another media outlet has yet again met the demands of BTS' intense fandom, thus proving the power and immense popularity of the K-Pop boy group. What do you think of MBC's apology?
