Three Women Killed In "Honor" Crime: One Body Found And One Suspect Arrested - Two Bodies Still Missing And Nine Suspects Still Out There

Three women killed in "honor" crime included a mother and her two daughters who were allegedly killed recently by male relatives in southern Egypt because they believed they had affairs.

The three women killed in "honor" crime were allegedly killed for violating traditional morals in the conservative region, a security official told the Associated Press Friday. Only one body of the alleged victims has been found.

Police said in a statement that 10 men stormed the house where the women lived. The three women killed in "honor" crime were allegedly strangled and beating with sharp tools, which was based on the alleged confession of one of the suspects who was arrested on Thursday.

The men then wrapped the women's bodies in blankets, weighted them with stones and throw them in the river Nile, the official added.

The practice is against Egyptian law, and perpetrators are prosecuted if they are arrested. Courts are sometimes sympathetic to the accused and give lighter sentences, according to the AP.

One woman's body was seen floating on the surface of the Nile River near the town of Esna close to the ancient city of Luxor, the same official added. Police are searching for the two other bodies and nine remaining suspects.
