Apple iPhone Ad Teases iWatch: Smart Watch To Feature Biometric Tech, Secure User ID, 2014 Release Date [VIDEO]

Apple teased those anxiously awaiting news of the iWatch with a brief glimpse of a watch in Apple's newest advertisement, titled "Music Every Day," 9 to 5 Mac reported.

The video featuring the iWatch 'troll' was posted on Apple's YouTube channel on Thursday night.

In the video, at around the 30-second mark, someone wearing a large, wrist-device is pictured listening to music on his or her iPhone.

Although this 'trolling attempt,' according to 9 to 5 Mac, teases the iWatch while revealing nothing about the device, rumors considered more valid have been spreading about Apple's smart watch.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that he expects Apple to release an iWatch towards the end of 2014, according to an Apple Insider report.

Kuo, who has successfully predicted other Apple launches in the past, expects the iWatch to have a 1.5-inch to 2-inch display, in addition to other unique features.

"Investors shouldn't be misled by the word 'Watch'. We think iWatch will not be positioned as a time-telling device, nor as a device that displays information from other Apple products," Kuo wrote in an investor's report. "We are positive on the iWatch because its wearable design is helpful for offering more secure user identification and biometrics functionality."

The iWatch would use biometrics to keep it secure on the wearer's wrist and be able to determine who is wearing it.

The biometrics would allow the watch to be used as a fitness-tracking device, like FitBit.

Kuo cited Apple's recent patent filings relating to curved screens and batteries in his claims about the rumored iWatch.

Manufacture of such a device would likely begin in the second half of 2014, with a launch later that year.
