Lee Dong Wook-Im Siwan Drama? Dong Wook Offered Role in Upcoming OCN Thriller, ‘Strangers From Hell’

Fresh off the success of his last drama "Touch You Heart," Lee Dong Wook's return to the small screen could be sooner than you expected. But unlike the light-hearted series, he could soon show his diverse acting chops in a thriller genre.

According to a report by Sports Chosun, the Korean A-list actor has been offered a role in the OCN thriller called "Strangers From Hell."

The show, which will be Im Siwan's first project after his return from his mandatory military service, follows the story of strange people who live in the same apartment.

The exclusive news stated that Dong Wook was offered to play a character who has a flair for psychological warfare. Though seemingly friendly and amicable upon first encounter, the character has his own ulterior motive, digging up information about his new acquaintances.

Though the drama is still in its planning phase, what has been confirmed so far is Im Siwan's playing of the lead role. Yoon Jong Woo (his character) is a man in his 20s who moves from the countryside to Seoul for his new office job. He encounters mysterious people -- and incidents -- after he moves to his new apartment.

"Strangers From Hell" is based on a webtoon of the same title. The TV drama adaptation will be directed by Lee Chang Hee ("The Vanished," "The Hideout," "The 40,000 Blows").

According to a statement, OCN decided to adapt the popular webtoon "because it not only contains shocking and in-depth stories, but also reflects on realistic worries of people in society these days."

"As the original webtoon is popular on its own, much attention was gathered for casting of the drama. We are honored and thrilled to be working together with Im Siwan who perfectly matches the description of his character," OCN further stated.

Siwan first shot to fame as a member of the K-pop group ZE:A. He has since dabbled into acting, playing cameo roles first in dramas like "Prosecutor Princess" and "All About Marriage." In 2012, his acting chops was firmly established with his role in "Moon Embracing The Sun." He has since appeared in the hit dramas "Misaeng: Incomplete Life" and "The King In Love."

He also starred in the courtroom movie, "The Attorney," which became the 8th best-selling Korean film of all time.

Dong Wook, on the other hand, has showcased his acclaimed acting skills in "My Girl," "Hotel King," "Blade Man," "Goblin," and "Life."
