The Bangtan Boys continue to make music history one after another.
The K-pop phenom bagged the "Top Duo/Group" trophy at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards held on May 1 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
BTS is the first Korean act to have won the said accolade. Other contenders for the said category include country duo Dan + Shay, and pop/rock titans Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons and Panic! At The Disco.
During their acceptance speech, BTS leader RM said that despite this huge milestone, they are "still the same boys from six years ago."
"We still have the same dreams, we still have the same fears, we still have the same thoughts. Let's keep dreaming about the best dreams together. Thank you, I love you all," he added, also giving a special shoutout to their fandom called ARMY.
Apart from the said award, they also took home the "Top Social Artist" trophy for the third consecutive year. For 2019, the other nominees for this category include Ariana Grande, One Direction's Louis Tomlinson, and fellow K-pop artists EXO and GOT7.
During the awarding ceremony, the K-pop superstars - which also include Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, Jungkook, V, and Suga -- also performed their record-shattering hit "Boy With Luv" live for their first time with Halsey. The song is lifted off their "Map of the Soul: Persona" album, their third effort to top the Billboard 200 Chart.
BTS and Halsey's collaborative performance, featuring a K-pop act and a Western artist, is another first in BBMA history. In an interview with E! on the red carpet, Halsey shared that her performance with BTS is "super fun and friendly...and shows [their] personalities a lot."
All these achievements have fired up ARMYs across the globe, sending the hashtags #BTSTopGroup, #BTSonE, and Halsey to Twitter's Top 10 Worldwide trends list.
On social media, photos of the Bangtan Boys together with other music stars also gathered the attention of netizens. The septet has had snaps with artists like Madonna, Drake, Cardi B, Khalid, Ciara, and Tori Kelly among others.
Prior to BTS' BBMA wins, it was only PSY who has received recognition from the prestigious award-giving body. In 2013, he won the "Top Streaming Song" tilt for his mega-hit, "Gangnam Style."
