Head in the Clouds, an Asian music-centered festival hosted by record label 88rising in the US, will be bringing iKON and GOT7's Jackson Wang to Los Angeles, California on August 17, 2019.
iKON's upcoming performance at the said show will follow their recently held US stage debut during the 2019 SXSW Festival. The K-pop group is known for the hits "Love Scenario" and "Goodbye Road."
Meanwhile, Jackson's festival stint will mark the first time that he is performing as a solo artist.
Recalling how his gracing of the event came to be, he told Billboard, "When 88rising asked if I wanted to do my first-ever solo show at the Head in the Clouds, I just couldn't say no... I'm ready to give all my fans a show they'll never forget."
The headliners will also included highly acclaimed Asian rap acts, DPR Live and Dumbfounded.
The first wave of performers was announced earlier in March. The list include 88rising's own talents -- Japanese rapper-singer Joji, Indonesian artists Rich Brian and NIKI, Chinese hip-hop group Higher Brothers, and R&B singer August 08 (who is the company's first-ever non-Asian talent).
With such a diverse lineup, 88rising is gearing up for yet another successful, buzz-worthy showcase of Asian music. Its maiden edition last year attracted more than 10,000 attendees and gained attention from global media outfits like Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and Billboard.
In an interview with Billboard, 88rising founder and CEO Sean Miyashiro shared the people who will attend the festival will not only "witness music, but also get a fully immersive experience with Asian-infused culture."
"From programing to fashion to the art installations, it's a lot. What we want to do is create an experience. This year, we want to plant the flag that this is the definitive Asian-music festival in the world and hopefully it gives us the momentum for years to come," he further added.
Based in New York City, 88rising is a "hybrid management, record label, video production, and marketing company" founded in 2015. Its main roster of talents are artists of Asian descent. It aims to give a platform for these acts to expand their market and reach Western audiences.
