As announced on May 2, KCON USA is adding two more performers to its list of performers for the anticipated KCON New York 2019. Joining fellow K-pop groups ATEEZ, EVERLOW, TXT, SF9, and NU'EST are girl group IZ*ONE and all-boys quintet AB6IX.
The Hallyu musical stars will grace the East Coast leg of the annually held revelry on July 6 and 7. The two-day K-pop convention and concert is set to take place at the Madison Square Garden and at Manhattan's Javits Center.
AB6IX is a rookie collective who is set to debut on May 22 at the Olympic Park Olympic Hall. The first-ever boy group of the company Brand New Music, their first musical showcase titled "B:COMPLETE" proved to be a much-awaited phenomenon as tickets have already been sold out only 30 seconds after they became available.
The quintet is composed of former YG Treasure Box contender Jeon Woong, Wanna One alumni Park Woo Jin and Lee Daehwi, and ex MXM duo Kim Dong Hyun and Lim Young Min. The last four members have also all graced the 2017 edition of Produce 101.
Their first official single is the swag-filled single "Hollywood" which was first unveiled when they performed it on Produce 101 and were introduced as then-trainees of their agency.
Speaking of Produce 101, IZ*ONE is a 12-member girl group formed through the hit reality show. They secured their spot in the lucrative K-pop scene with their debut single "La Vie En Rose," which helped them gain more following from across Asia.
The girl group, with members from Korea and Japan, also recently made musical buz with the release of their sophomore single, "Violeta."
In an interview with Billboard, member Wonyoung shared that they are "so grateful and thankful for all the love [they've] received so far." "We're going to try our hardest to succeed and show everyone what we can do in the future," she further added.
While these two groups will join their fellow K-pop stars at the KCON NY in July, fans of the genre and pop culture movement from the West Coast will have to wait a month after to attend the hotly-anticipated gathering.
KCON is described as the "one place where every element of Hallyu encompassing pop music, TV dramas, movies, fashion, food, and beauty can be experienced and celebrated." It started as a one-day event back in 2012 and has since expanded as a well-attended bi-coastal revelry in the US. Last year, over 147,000 people attended the KCON NY and LA events.
