SNSD’s Sooyoung Signs an Exclusive Contract with Saram Entertainment

Choi Sooyoung of SNSD has recently signed an exclusive contract with Saram Entertainment. With her new agency, the singer-actress is hoping to further improve her acting skills and expand her horizons.

Saram Entertainment houses several versatile actors including Ko Sung Hee, Kwon Yul, Uhm Jung Hwa, Park Ye Jin, Kim Sung Kyu, Han Ye Ri, Choi Won Young, Honey Lee, and Hong Ki Jun.

This news follows her departure from Echo Global Group, which she first joined back in November 2017. The company, which also manages actor Daniel Henney, said in a statement that they support Sooyoung's decision.

"We would like to express our gratitude to Choi Sooyoung for doing her best as an artist. We sincerely support her move," the agency remarked.

Prior to her contract with Echo Global Group, she was a talent of SM Entertainment alongside other SNSD members. In October 2017, she together with Tiffany and Seohyun decided not to renew their contracts with the company.

Though she was once a member of a Korean-Japanese singing duo in Japan, the 29-year-old artist first started her career in K-pop world as part of SNSD, which debuted in 2007.

Rising to become one of the most globally recognized girl groups in K-pop history, SNSD is known for the hits "Gee," "Tell Me Your Wish," "I Got A Boy," "Lion Heart," "Mr. Mr.," "Party," and more.

As an actress, she has appeared in many dramas as a guest star before landing lead roles in "The Third Hospital" (2012) and "Dating Agency: Cyrano" (2013). Her last TV series acting stint was 2017's "Man in the Kitchen."

She also hosted different variety programs including "Saturday Night Live Korea" and "Born 1990: Choi Sooyoung."

Sooyoung is set to star in the South Korean TV adaptation of the Chinese film, "So I Married An Anti-Fan." The cast also includes Choi Tae Joon, Hwang Chan Sung, and Han Ji An.
