Lee Sung Kyung to Hold First-Ever Fan Meeting in Japan in June

Hallyu star Lee Sung Kyung is coming to Japan next month for her first-ever fan meeting in the said country. The model-turned-actress' "Be Joyful" fan meeting will take place on Jun 21 at the Shinagawa Intercity Hall in Tokyo. The event will be held twice -- first at 3 p.m. and then at 7 p.m. -- to accommodate more of her following.

The 28-year-old artist first appeared in hit TV series like "It's Okay That's Love," "Cheese Trap," and "Doctors" before landing on her breakthrough lead role in "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo." In 2014, she also made her film debut via the silver screen offering, "Wrestler."

She was last seen in the K-dramaland through last year's fantasy-romance drama, "About Time," opposite veteran actor Lee Sang Yoon.

For her first acting project for the year, Sung Kyung starred in the recently premiered film, "Girl Cops." Co-starring versatile actress Ra Mi Ran, the film follows the story of two detectives who are solving a digital sex crime case.

In an interview for the film, she noted that it was an honor to work with a dedicated actress like Mi Ran.

"She decided to do the film first, and I became curious as to how she would do it. I decided to join the film because I was thankful to have the opportunity to act with her," she noted, admitting that she herself is a big fan of the actress.

"I love her energy. I've been really wanting to meet her in person. And it was so nice to participate in a project together," she further said.

Talking about the plot itself, she remarked: "As an amusing film, it allows viewers to think again about certain social issues without being too heavy."

Meanwhile, Sung Kyung has earlier kick-started her year with her first ever fan meeting abroad. Held on January 19 in Taipei, the actress showcased her charms and her irresistible singing and dancing skills during the event. Her dance cover of Blackpink's "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" made the rounds online afterward.
