Yeji, Ryujin, Lia, Yuna, and Chaeryeong -- collectively known as JYP Entertainment's newest girl group ITZY -- are gearing up for their first-ever comeback.
According to a company representative, "it is true that they are preparing a new album, but the timing has not been decided [yet]."
"It will be announced once it is confirmed," the spokesperson further revealed. Speculations have previously surfaced that the up-and-comers will be dropping new music sometime in July.
ITZY debuted last February with the smash uptempo anthem, "DALLA DALLA."
The song, taken from their single album called "It's Different," has earned the five-piece outfit their first-ever music show win in just nine days after their debut. This is the quickest period that a newly-debuted K-pop act has won a music show.
The catchy EDM-leading tune also peaked at the No. 5 spot on Gaon's Digital Chart and ranked third on Billboard's World Digital Songs Sales Chart.
Commenting about ITZY's fast-rising success, JYP Entertainment's Park Jin Young wrote on Instagram: "Congrats, girls! But I have to admit that I'm also a little worried about the speed of your success. The true quality of a star is how long you can maintain your rookie attitude."
"I hope you don't lose focus and become an everlasting shining star," the producer added.
Before being taken over by BTS and BLACK PINK, the group's music video for the said track was also the fastest to reach 100 million views for any K-pop act -- it took them only 57 days to hit the milestone.
The K-pop upstart also dominated the idol brand reputation rankings during the month of their debut.
Before their anticipated comeback, the girls will first grace the stage of KCON Japan on May 18. They will perform together with other K-pop acts like TWICE, IZ*ONE, PENTAGON, WJSN, VERY VERY, The Boyz, and Wanna One's Kim Jae Hwan and Ha Sung Woon.
This will year will mark the fifth edition of the biggest K-pop event in Japan.
