Tom Cruise Drops Project As Star In "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." To Film "Mission Impossible 5"

Tom Cruise drops project as star in the up-and-coming film, "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." because of a scheduling conflict with "Mission Impossible 5."

In March, Cruise was announced to be a part of the film, but Tom Cruise drops project, according to Deadline.com.

The movie, "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." is about a show from the 1960s that featured the exploits of two secret agents who worked under the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement. Now, the movie is left without a star because Tom Cruise drops project in order to keep his attention with the "Mission Impossible" film.

The project Cruise dropped was a television series from 1964-1968. Plans for the movie's roles started in November of 2010 as a Steven Soderbergh film with George Clooney in the starring role. In the following August, Clooney has to drop from the movie because he suffered a back injury, according to the Huffington Post.

In the original "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," Robert Vaughn and David McCallum starred as the secret agents. Vaughn played Solo and McCallum played Illya Kuryakin. The success of their roles on the show landed them other roles and the success of the show received a lot of attention, especially overseas.

There was a sequel made overseas for "The Return of the Man from U.N.C.L.E. - The Fifteen-Year-Later Affair."
