MBC’s ‘Radio Star’ Enlists Jinyoung of GOT7 as Special MC

GOT7's Jinyoung is set to appear as a special MC on MBC's talk show, "Radio Star." This is according to a statement revealed by a source from the show last May 30.

The episode, titled "La La Land," will see the K-pop heartthrob conversing with guests Rhymer, MC Gree, and Lee Dae Hwi of AB6IX -- who are all part of the South Korean hip-hop company Brand New Music, with Rhymer sitting as the firm's Chief Executive Officer.

The said edition will also feature Muzie who have previously teamed up with Rhymer. The two have also appeared on SBS Power FM's "Cultwo Show," where the former was tapped as a special DJ and the latter as the guest.

Jinyoung is the latest star to appear as a special MC on "Radio Star" following former host Cha Tae Hyun's departure from the program. Back in March this year, the actor-host bid goodbye following his gambling scandal with fellow variety show star Kim Joon Ho.

Before the GOT7 member, "Radio Star" featured the likes of HaHa, Kim Young Chul, Yang Se Hyung, Kim Sejeong (gugudan), Heo Kyung Hwan as special hosts.

Earlier in May, Jinyoung along with the other boys of GOT7 made a come back with the unveiling of their newest mini album titled "Spinning Top: Between Security and Insecurity."

The JYP Entertainment talent has also recently dominated charts with LSS-inducing single lifted off the said effort, "Eclipse."

Prior to their comeback, Jinyoung also conquered the small screen with his debut leading role in "He's Psychometric." He first dabbled into acting when he had a supporting role in 2012's "Dream High 2."

In a candid interview with Sports Donga, the versatile artist revealed that he still has a lot to improve when it comes to his acting chops.

"There's a lot of parts that I felt I lacked in, but I'm glad that it ended well," he shared, admitting that "there were times [when he] blamed [himself]," but never once had the thought of giving up.

When asked about balancing his singing and acting career, he mentioned that he is "thankful to be able to be active" in both fields.

"I'm very fortunate [because] every album and project is charming because it's different and new each time," he shared, further pointing out the two art forms' common denominator: "the harder the process is, the better the outcome."
