R&B-soul singer Lee Hi has recently made a successful return to the music scene.
"No One," the carrier track of the K-pop act's newest mini-album "24℃," soared high on several real-time music charts after its release on May 30. The song, penned by IKON's B.I. (which also features vocal works from him), topped the said charts of Naver, Melon, Mnet, Bugs, and Soribada, as of May 31 12:30 a.m. KST. Meanwhile, it landed on the second spot on Genie's real-time chart.
Apart from the "No One"'s music video, her agency YG Entertainment also released a behind-the-scenes video revealing details about the song -- which Lee Hi said is actually a tribute to a song of the same name by Korean singer Han Young Ae.
Describing the song as "having a fresh sound," the K-pop chanteuse noted that it features some instruments that have never been used in her previous releases.
B.I., her collaborator for the song, meanwhile shared that him helping Lee Hi out this time can be considered a way of giving thanks; she helped her out when he was on a survival program.
"I'm just happy that I can help her out in this small way. I really put a lot of thought into the lyrics," the IKON member shared.
Lee Hi's newest EP includes four more tracks that boast collaborations from G.Soul and TREASURE13's Choi Hyun Suk.
It follows her last album, "Seoulite," which came out three years ago.
When asked about her comeback being done while YG Entertainment is facing controversies related to former talent Seungri's prostitution scandal, Lee Hi was quick to clarify otherwise.
"I think that my agency's issues are separate from my comeback. So I'm not upset about that," she remarked.
Instead, she asked her fans for their continued support as she will be actively promoting her latest project, "Since this is my first album in a long time, I think that fans will be able to enjoy my music separately from those issues. Thank you for always waiting for me."
