A year after the project group JBJ disbanded, Kwon Hyun Bin's agency YGX announced that he is debuting as a soloist.
"Kwon Hyun Bin will debut this summer as a solo singer. Before the first solo announcement, we will open an official YouTube channel at 5:00 pm on May 31, and we will be releasing the videos about the album preparation process and his everyday life on a weekly basis."
The ex-Produce 101 Season 2 hopeful, who moved the people's hearts for his dedication and passion, is now finally carrying on his music career again.
He shared, "I am already excited to greet fans through my YouTube channel. I thought a lot about how to make up for the long break I had in order to satisfy everyone and create music that everyone can enjoy."
He went on, "I will do my best to become an artist that makes the fans who have quietly supported and waited for me proud."
In the video uploaded on Youtube, Hyun Bin warmly greeted his supporters and he also admitted that he desires to be like Song Mino from the K-Pop group Winner. Hyun Bin also made a cover of Mino's solo track "Body" and "Always Awake" by Beenzino, which he dedicated to his fans.
Born in 1997, Hyun Bin lived in Japan for a short time to study. He was part of the Aoba-Japan International School's baseball team. He was also a fencing athlete at Jungkyung High School and competed for fencing tourney titles. Unfortunately, he had to give up his athlete life after sustaining an injury.
Hyun Bin joined the survival reality talent show's second season in 2017. He was among the 101 trainees who hoped to debut as an idol. Eventually, he debuted as part of the project group JBJ under Fave Entertainment.
JBJ began its first-ever reality show "Just be Joyful JBJ" in September of 2017. The following month, the group released its EP Fantasy with the titular track. Their debut showcase took place at Korea University's Hwajung Gymnasium, and also performed the title song and "Say My Name" at M Countdown.
In November of 2017, JBJ held fan-meetings in Tokyo and Osaka. In December, the group announced that their album was in the works and was set to be released by January of 2018. They then had their first concert "Really Desirable Concert" in February. Reports revealed that the tickets for the concert sold out in less than one minute.
In April of 2018, JBJ members officially went on their separate ways after their contracts with Fave Entertainment expired.
