Former Pristin Members Will Not Form a New Girl Group

Following the news on their disbandment, there have been rumors that some of the former members of girl group, Pristin, will form a new girl group under a new agency.

However, this report was confirmed to be not true.

A source close to the former members of Pristin revealed to The Big Data News on June 5, said denied the report.

"The article talking about some PRISTIN members signing on with a new agency and preparing to re-debut as members of a new girl group is false. Some of the members are currently attending school and studying for exams. We're not sure why such an article was released," the source said.

Pristin, a 10 - member group under Pledis Entertainment, debuted in 2017. Two of its members, were the winners of Produce 101.

Three years after, however, Pledis Entertainment announced the official disbandment of the group.

Members Nayoung, Roa, Yuha, Eunwoo, Rena, Xiyeon and Kyla have all terminated their contracts with Pledis Entertainment. While Kyulkyung, Yehena, and Sungyeon decided to stay with the agency.

"We would like to first apologize to fans, who have always been supportive, for delivering this unfortunate news," Pledis Entertainment said in a statement dated May 24, 2019

"Because this is a decision that must be made carefully, a lot of time was given in thinking about this matter. At the end of discussions, we decided to respect the wishes of the PRISTIN members and came to the conclusion of disbandment and contract termination," the company added.

Pledis Entertainment added that they will continue to support Kyulkyung, Yehena, and Sungyeon for their individual activities.

They also said their thanks to the seven (Nayoung, Roa, Yuha, Eunwoo, Rena, Xiyeon, and Kyla), and expressed their support on the new endeavors they will embark on.

"We ask that fans show unchanging support for the seven PRISTIN members, Kyulkyung, Yehana, and Sungyeon as they embark on new beginnings," Pledis Entertainment said.

PRISTIN, three years into their career, released two mini albums: Hi! Pristin, and Sxchxxl Out. The group won the Rookie of the Year awards for MNET Asia Music Awards (MAMA), and Seoul Music Awards in 2017.

Seven of their members were known to be contestants of the reality show, Produce 101. Kyulkyung and Nayoung emerged as tw of the winners of the show and debuted as members of IOI.

In May 2018, PRISTIN V debuted as the first unit group of Pristin. The said unit consists of five members.
