Soon-to-Enlist D.O. to Release Solo Song as Parting Gift for Fans

With his enlistment coming up on the first of July, EXO vocalist D.O. is confirmed to release a new solo song. Serving as his parting gift for EXO-Ls across the world, the track will be launched through SM Entertainment's SM Station.

"D.O. has recently finished recording his solo track. It will be released through SM STATION," his agency SM Entertainment confirmed. Last month, the 26-year-old idol revealed that he will begin his mandatory military service on July 1.

In a statement, D.O. admitted how apologetic he is to bring out the sudden news.

"I wanted to first share the news with you, so I have a heavy heart because I feel like it's a little late... I wanted to let you know that as much as this decision was made after lots of consideration, I will return after serving healthily and safely," he remarked.

D.O. will be the second EXO member to join the boot camp following Xiumin, who entered the army last May 7.

His unveiling of a solo track in relation to his impending military enlistment is similar to what his EXO hyung did. Xiumin dropped his sweet-sounding solo material "You," two days after he became an active-duty soldier. It was also launched via SM Station.

D.O.'s newest song comes around five years since he last recorded and released a solo track. In 2014, he breathed life to the song "Crying Out" as part of the soundtrack of the film "Cart," which he was a cast member of.

Debuted as EXO's main vocalist back in 2012, D.O. has carved out a name in the rather competitive K-pop music scene with his soft, balladic yet versatile and subtly powerful vocals.

Apart from sharing his musical chops, he has also earned his own following with his impressive acting skills, with "Cart" as his first official foray into the film-and-TV industry. His most memorable roles include his award-winning stint on "It's Okay That's Love" (2014) and on his first lead role in "100 Days My Prince" (2018).
