Monsta X is all geared up to wave the K-pop flag high and proud at this year’s Teen Choice Awards!
As announced on the South Korean boy group’s Twitter account, the septet — composed of Shownu, Wonho, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Joohoney, I.M., and Hyungwon — has been confirmed to not only attend the said awarding ceremony but also become the first act from the country to ever perform on its stage.
“It is an honor to become the first K-pop artist to perform at the said awards show,” Starship Entertainment, the group’s agency, shared in a statement.
In its previous editions, the Teen Choice Awards has given nods to K-pop artists by nominating them and handing them out trophies.
The 2019 Teen Choice Awards, presented by Fox, is slated on August 11 at 8 PM EST at the Hermosa Beach in Los Angeles, California. The star-studded show will be hosted by A-list actress Lucy Hale and YouTube sensation David Dobrik. Other performers include OneRepublic, Blanco Brown, and Bazzi.
Monsta X’s anticipated performance at the awards show is a fitting encore of their “We Are Here” World Tour, the final leg of which is happening on the 10th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The group began to embark on a world tour last April, holding a back-to-back show at the Olympic Handball Gymnasium in Seoul. The concert series, in promotion of their comeback album “Take.2 We Are Here,” included shows in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, Melbourne, Madrid, Paris, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, New York, and Chicago.
Their last leg in Los Angeles will be live-streamed for Monbebes across the world to be able to witness the show that will cap-off their tour. This broadcast is made possible by Monsta X’s partnership with Naver V Live.
The K-pop outfit, best known for their hits “Jealousy” and “Beautiful,” owned the year not only with the release of a new effort and with their world tour — they also landed a deal with Epic Records for music distribution overseas, got animated and guested on Cartoon Network’s hit show “We Bare Bears,” and made their US TV debut with their stint on “Good Morning America.”
