AOA Performs For The First Opening of Mnet's "Queendom"

South Korean girl group AOA made the first opening performance for Mnet's upcoming girl group contest show "Queendom," prior to its premiere.

In "Queendom," six female K-Pop groups will go through different head-to-head contests with each other, and the winning group will be determined the "real#1."

Last July 30, the six girl groups were revealed, which will be AOA, Lovelyz, Oh My Girl, (G)I-DLE, MAMAMOO, and former 2NE1 member Park Bom. Each of the groups will be launching singles on the same day and at the same time, which will be their entries in competing for the highest rank on the music charts.

Though the show looks exciting, most of the fans of each group do not agree with it, saying that "Queendom" will only cause more fan wars. Some of the comments that were left by the fans regarding the program are, "All of these women are already successful.

They don't need to compete to prove they are queen," "I don't like this show. It will just ignite fan wars," "Why are they putting groups to battle each other?" "This is going to be a mess," and much more.

But despite the negative feedback, Mnet is dedicated to going on with the new survival show, which will premiere on August 29 at 9:20 p.m. KST. It will be hosted by two MCs: actress Lee Da Hee and broadcaster Jang Sung Kyu.

In addition, voting is also part of the survival program, which began on July 30 and will end on August 20. Whoever tops the poll will receive a food truck from Makestar, is a Korean company that provides a chance for K-Pop stars and global fans to achieve a goal together.

On another note, AOA has still not made its comeback for this year, 2019. The girls' last mini-album launched is "Bingle Bangle" last May 28, 2018. While Lovelyz has released its sixth extended play on May 20, titled "Once Upon A Time" with the title track "Beautiful Days," Oh My Girl made a recent comeback, on August 5, with the track "Bungee (Fall in Love)."

(G)I-DLE, on the other hand, launched their second digital single "Uh-Oh" on June 26, then MAMAMOO dropped their new single called "Gleam" on July 24. Lastly, Park Bom re-released her album "Spring" with the title "re Blue Rose" with the lead single "4:44" on May 2.
