Brace yourselves as LABOUM is about to make their comeback!
On Tuesday, August 13, the quintet's official Twitter page unveiled an alluring photo of the members striking a pose, along with the date of their return. As of press time, the post already amassed about 3,000 likes and retweets collectively.
This will mark their comeback after almost a year of hiatus. Their last album I'm Yours was released in December of 2018, which features three tracks Turn It On, Heal Song, and Between Us.
Last June, the group announced that they will be welcoming a new member by holding a screening event in Japan. Their agency NH Media confirmed the news and released a brief statement regarding this.
"The new member will only be participating in [LABOUM's] Japanese activities. The public announcements of the schedule and promotion will take place through 'Rakuten LIVE.' By holding an audition for a new member, we will blow energy into [LABOUM's] full-fledged activities in Japan," the company stated.
The audition required having the willpower to sing and dance, and should at least finished middle school. Also, the aspirants should not have signed an exclusive contract with another agency. The consent of their guardians is also important for the underage hopefuls and should be able to fly to Korea for the final screening this summer season. Fifteen to twenty-five-year-old females are welcome to submit an application.
LABOUM began their Japanese activities upon signing a contract with Japan's Columbia Records last year. They paired up with Rakuten, a giant corporation with over 20 million subscribers, to seek out an additional member. The registration for auditions commenced on June 19 through the 25th.
The ones who were successful in the initial screening were tasked to send a designated video and partake in the finals, which is set to take place in Korea from August to September. The major categories will be singing and dancing.
Further, the five members will personally select their new member out of the five remaining finalists, as well as a couple of other contenders who will pass the special criteria.
"When our album came out, I greeted my seniors for the first time. I said hello to FTISLAND, and I saw Minhwan in the corner with a dark aura. He didn't seem interested, but I kept staring at him," Yulhee shared.
"Then I forgot about him, but two years passed by and an acquaintance mentioned Minhwan. We then went on a blind date. He must have thought we were compatible because he asked, 'Chubby, want to be mine?' He still calls me that now," The former idol went on.
